Extensin, extracted as a
tripeptide

Using proprietary technology developed by researchers with 35 years of experience in collagen, RAWGA extracts extensin — a glycoprotein in the outer wall of the plant cell — into the tripeptide structure that is the minimum unit of collagen. It is the world's first patented plant-based collagen alternative food ingredient.

01

Extensin in the plant cell wall

Extensin is a glycoprotein found in the outer wall of the plant cell — the starting point for a collagen structure that never came from an animal.

02

Extracted as a tripeptide

Our proprietary technology extracts it into the tripeptide structure that is the minimum unit of collagen, developed by researchers with 35 years of collagen experience.

03

World's first patent

The result received the world’s first patent as a plant-based collagen alternative food ingredient.

04

Substantiated as collagen

Hydroxyproline content, amino acid composition and molecular weight review substantiate the material as plant collagen.

Patents & Certifications

Independently validated

World's first patent for a plant-based collagen alternative food ingredient, and for the manufacturing method of plant-based collagen peptides — plus four additional patents covering manufacturing technology and raw material.

The same process in the body as animal collagen

Plant-based collagen shares the same process of action in the human body as animal-derived collagen, which supplies proteoglycan, the precursor of collagen. It contains hydroxyproline — the marker compound of collagen — carries the corresponding amino acid composition, and is substantiated as plant collagen through molecular weight review, the key indicator of collagen absorption.

R&D Organization

Thirty-five years of peptide chemistry, structured across three centers

Our technology began with a question: could the sticky residue left after pressing hibiscus offer an alternative for people who could not consume animal-derived collagen? Inspired by a Muslim acquaintance’s experience, our founder set out to find an answer. Our research team turned that question into a scientific pursuit.

After two years of research, the potential was confirmed in 2019. Manufacturing and raw-material patents followed in 2021, leading to the market launch of VC-H1®, a hibiscus-derived plant collagen peptide.
